Community Sponsorship – AHARS
KernWi-Fi are proud to be a sponsor of the Adelaide Hills Amateur Radio Society Inc (AHARS). For those that don’t know “Amateur radio is the use of radio frequency spectrum of purposes of non-commercial exchange of messages, wireless experimentation, self-training, private recreation, radiosport, contesting and emergency communication.”
Established in 1982 from the roots of the Blackwood Amateur Radio Club before the WW2, AHARS is South Australia’s largest amateur radio club with a diverse range of members, with varying ages, backgrounds and interests. The club has been steadily growing over the years thanks to the experience and active committee. To join, you don’t have to be a licenced amateur – there are talks, special events, activities, social meet ups, field trips, symposiums, club projects, training, buy and sell gatherings that cover electronics, computers, etc .
To continue community engagement and the successful running of the Club, AHARS hold regular meetings, general meetings on the third Thursday of the month at the Community Hall in Young Street, Blackwood, where everyone is welcome, and also the AHARS Club Shack located at 56 Hannaford Road, Blackwood (just behind the Girl Guide Hall).
